NFPA 25, the Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, establishes minimum frequencies for inspecting fire sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire pumps, and related equipment. These requirements are adopted by most U.S. jurisdictions and enforced by local fire marshals.
Frequencies vary by system type. Wet pipe sprinkler systems require quarterly visual inspections, annual full inspections, and 5-year internal pipe inspections. Dry pipe and pre-action systems add annual trip tests. Fire pumps require weekly churn tests, monthly no-flow condition checks, and annual flow tests.
This calculator uses standard NFPA 25 intervals. Your local jurisdiction may impose stricter requirements. Always confirm deadlines with your Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and your fire protection contractor.
